The maker’s story

The craft inside a single bead

Hakan Yıldırım learned the traditional art of the rosary from his masters, in the Elazığ workshop he entered as an apprentice. Today materials sent by clients are worked into rosaries in that same workshop; every piece carries the spirit of its material and the patience of the hand.

The process

A work in four steps

  1. Receiving the Material

Pressed amber, drop amber or faturan sent by the client is examined; its grain and tone are assessed.

  2. Turning the Beads

Each bead is turned on the hand lathe, matched to the millimetre, and polished by hand.

  3. Imame & Inlay

The imame is the maker’s signature; silver and gold inlay work is done by hand.

  4. Tassel & Licence

The tassel is braided strand by strand; the work is then recorded under a licence code and certified.

A rosary is not turned in haste; in haste it is not made at all. Every bead asks for its own time under your hand.

Hakan YILDIRIM

There is no series production in this workshop. Your material is worked by hand, the piece is recorded under a licence code, and it is never repeated. The work you own is yours alone.
